In Distractions, Tai is the daughter of feudal lord Toshiro. Michelangelo encounters Tai, her father, and her younger brother Sakai while on a journey in Japan to find his brothers. However, Tai is kidnapped by Tachi, a samurai who is the son of the Daimyō Orkai. By killing Toshiro and forcing Tai to marry Tachi, Orkai plots to take over Toshiro's province. Michelangelo storms Orkai's stronghold and rescues Tai, and Toshiro confronts the Daimyō and his son, banishing them from the lands. Tai, who has fallen in love with Michelangelo, and Toshiro wish for Michelangelo to stay with them, but he declines in favor of searching for his brothers.
It is then revealed that the events were merely a story written by Michelangelo.
