The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (often shortened to TMNT or Ninja Turtles) are a fictional team of (usually) four teenage anthropomorphic turtles - Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael, and Michelangelo - named after four Renaissance artists, who were trained by their anthropomorphic rat sensei, Splinter in the art of ninjutsu. From their home in the storm sewers of New York City, they battle petty criminals, evil overlords, mutated animals, and alien invaders while attempting to remain isolated from society.
The characters originated in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book before their expansion into a cartoon series, films, video games, toys, and other general merchandise. During the peak of franchise’s popularity in the late 1980s through the early 1990s, the franchise gained considerable worldwide success and fame.

- Walker, one of two main antagonists of the third TMNT film, has a given name (Dirk) that goes unused in the film but is found on a trading card and the manga adaption Mutant Ninja Turtles 3.
- Fugitoid/Honeycutt was given a personal name, Zayton, starting in the 2012 TV series, which was applied to every version of him thereafter - and even adapted to a few that had existed before that version!
- Despite having two action figures in TMNT toy lines, Li Yang the Panda Khan never actually had a proper crossover with the Turtles until Saturday Morning Adventures #37 in 2026 - the closest they'd come before is in a backup strip of Laffin' Gas #5, but they don't interact or even appear in the same panel together!
- Ace Duck cameos in an in-show advertisement in the Rise of the TMNT episode One Man's Junk, promoting a flight service called "Ace Airlines".
- The first issue of Eastman and Laird's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was created in Dover, New Hampshire. The sidewalk outside of where the house it was made in once stood, now displays a commemorative TMNT manhole cover.
Turtlepedia was created by the fans, for the fans, and is dedicated to housing a useful and informative database for all subject matter related to the TMNT universe. Our goal is to collaborate with other fans in order to build a reliable, accurate resource with as much detailed information about the comics, TV Series, video games, and films as possible. All are welcome to join in and contribute here, so long as edits are constructive, discussions are positive, and both are relevant to the TMNT franchise.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III was, as the name implies, the third theatrical outing for the Ninja Turtles. This chapter, while sharing elements seen in Distractions and Masks, is an otherwise original tale about April O'Neil being trapped in feudal Japan via a Time Scepter and the Turtles following her to bring her back. It was released domestically in theaters on March 19, 1993
